The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) has officially opened the first phase of its Eco Park project, marking a major step forward in promoting urban greenery and sustainability in Kuwait. Strategically located in Salmiya — facing Gulf Road near Cliffs Tower — the Eco Park introduces a refreshing green destination for residents and visitors alike.
A Sustainable Space for the Community
Designed to expand green urban areas and support environmental research, KISR’s Eco Park blends thoughtful landscape design with public accessibility. Although it’s smaller than major city parks like Shaheed Park, it offers more space and planted features than many neighborhood parks across Kuwait.
Upon entrance, visitors are welcomed with well-organized pathways and clearly outlined park rules — including a no pets allowed policy to help keep the environment clean and enjoyable for everyone.
Nature, Water Features, and Recreation
The park’s landscape includes abundant plants and flowers, creating a vibrant green backdrop that contrasts with Kuwait’s desert environment. Two artificial lakes are standout features: one large open-air lake and a smaller shaded water body that adds visual interest and serenity to the space.
At the opposite end of the park, a large open area provides potential for community activities — from outdoor fitness sessions and yoga classes to weekend gatherings and cultural events. There’s also a pathway marked for future expansion, leading toward the upcoming second phase of the park.
Visitor Information and Access
As of now, KISR has not publicly released official opening hours. However, local visitors have noted that the park gates often remain open throughout the day, offering flexible access for casual strolls or peaceful relaxation.
The park’s Salmiya location — easily reachable from Gulf Road — makes it an ideal stopping point for both residents exploring outdoor spaces and tourists looking for natural attractions in Kuwait City’s vicinity.
