Jazeera Airways Resumes Flights to Damascus

Kuwait's low-cost airline, Jazeera Airways, will resume flights to Damascus, Syria, after a 12-year pause.

The flight service will begin on June 19 with one flight offered per day, which will eventually be increased to two by the end of the summer season.

The news comes after various regional airlines resumed flights to Syria, including the UAE's Emirates and flydubai, Saudi Arabia's flyanas and flyadeal.

The resumption of flights to Syria comes after the fall of the Assad regime in December last year.

Regional airlines resumed flights to Syria after US President Donald Trump lifted sanctions on Syria and the European Union removed economic sanctions on Syria.

Both Saudi Arabia and Qatar helped clear Syria's $15 million debt to the World Bank in April this year.
