CSC Announces Isra and Miraj Holiday for Public Sector

Kuwait’s Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced that the Isra and Miraj holiday for the public sector will be observed on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

In a statement, the CSC confirmed that all government ministries, departments and public sector institutions will be closed on the occasion, marking the religious event that commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s night journey and ascension.

The commission added that institutions of a special nature, including those with operational or essential services, may determine their holiday arrangements in line with their respective work schedules, ensuring continuity of services where required.

Isra and Miraj are one of the significant dates in the Islamic calendar, and their observance varies annually depending on the lunar calendar.

The announcement allows public sector employees and institutions to plan, while granting flexibility to essential services to maintain operations during the holiday.
