Kuwait’s General Traffic Department has announced the temporary closure of two lanes on the Arabian Gulf Street to carry out essential maintenance works.
The affected section of the road stretches from the Kuwait Society of Engineers towards the Amiri Hospital intersection, a route that typically experiences heavy daily traffic.
According to the official statement, the closure began on Sunday, October 19, and will remain in effect for 20 days. The traffic department has urged motorists to plan their routes accordingly and use alternative roads to avoid congestion, especially during peak hours.
The Arabian Gulf Street, one of Kuwait City’s most scenic and frequently used roads, runs parallel to the coastline and connects several key landmarks and business districts. While the temporary closure may cause some inconvenience to commuters, the maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and improve driving conditions across the capital.
Authorities have also emphasized that clear detour signs and traffic patrols have been deployed in the area to ensure smooth traffic flow and assist drivers navigating the diversion. Motorists are advised to stay updated through official channels and exercise caution when driving near the construction zone.
The repair and improvement project reflects Kuwait’s continued investment in infrastructure maintenance and modernization, ensuring the country’s main road networks remain safe, efficient, and durable for years to come.
