The life as a teenager in the 1960s was quite different, compared to the way young people live now. Streaming services, social media, and smartphones were not yet around, and yet, the teens had their responsibilities and routines that influenced their everyday lives in unexpected ways. Most of these expectations may have been thought of as entirely normal back then but may seem shocking or unbelievable to teenagers nowadays. Beyond firmer discipline in the home to extremely minimal technology, being raised in that period meant one had to be patient, independent, and disciplined. When we go back and see these little moments in our day to day lives, we realize exactly how the youth culture and lifestyles have drastically changed throughout the decades.
