Every July, Yellowstone turns into this whole thing, thousands of bison show up for their yearly mating season, which people call the rut. The park’s little valleys and open spaces end up sounding off with deep, rough roars, like massive bulls trading blows and trying to decide who’s in charge. It's a spectacular time for wildlife watching mid summer, but it also ups the danger a lot for visitors.
