One can scarcely imagine a royal tale that was more wicked and dramatic than the tale of Mary, Queen of Scots. Having been crowned a baby girl, as well as having spent her childhood in France, having three husbands, being married, serving her husband, her life in prison, nearly twenty years of her life, and, at last, of her life being executed, her life appeared to be a political detective. Hiding the childhood stories of rivalry and romance is a very complex story of politics, religious persecution and gender succession. The fate of Mary was not merely pre-ordained by personal choice, but also the hectic politics of the 16 th century Europe, when there was no way to separate religion and the throne, and only the attachment to the royal family could aid people in surviving.
