Kuwaiti Officials Deny Reports About Reopening of Airport
Civil Aviation Authority clarifies that social media rumors regarding flight resumptions are false; airport remains shut due to security concerns.
The Public Authority for Civil Aviation in Kuwait has firmly dismissed circulating rumors suggesting that Kuwait International Airport is set to resume operations. On Thursday, the authority confirmed that no official approvals have been issued for the restart of flights and reiterated that the airport remains closed.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the authority's spokesperson, addressed the misinformation in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). He clarified that a recent social media post, which appeared to originate from an airline, falsely reported the resumption of flights. Al-Rajhi emphasized that the information is entirely incorrect and urged the public to disregard unverified online reports, relying instead on official channels for accurate updates.
The spokesperson reaffirmed the authority's commitment to transparency, stating that any future announcements regarding airport operations will be communicated exclusively through official government and aviation sources.
The airport and Kuwaiti airspace were temporarily closed on February 28 as a precautionary measure in response to escalating regional political and security developments. The closure was implemented to safeguard passengers, airlines, and airport infrastructure from potential risks associated with the ongoing geopolitical instability. Until further notice, the ban on aircraft and passenger movements remains in full effect.
