Kuwait Suspends Outdoor Work Due to Terrible Weather Conditions
Public Authority for Manpower orders temporary halt to all outdoor operations as severe storms and heavy rain batter the country.
The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has issued an urgent directive ordering all companies engaged in outdoor activities to temporarily suspend their operations effective immediately. The decision comes in response to the deteriorating weather conditions currently sweeping across Kuwait, characterized by heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms.
The authority emphasized that the suspension is a mandatory safety measure designed to protect workers from the hazards posed by the severe weather. With rainfall intensifying across the governorates and visibility significantly reduced, the risk of accidents on construction sites and in open industrial areas has escalated. Companies are required to ensure that all outdoor personnel are moved to safe, sheltered locations until the weather stabilizes.
This directive aligns with the broader emergency response efforts currently underway in the country. The Ministry of Public Works has deployed emergency teams to manage water accumulation on roads, while the Meteorological Department has forecasted that scattered thunderstorms, occasionally accompanied by hail, will persist through Thursday. Conditions are not expected to improve until Friday morning.
Employers have been instructed to comply strictly with the suspension order to avoid penalties and, more importantly, to safeguard the lives of their workforce. The PAM reminded all stakeholders that worker safety is the paramount priority during such extreme weather events.
Resumption of outdoor work will depend on further official announcements from the Public Authority for Manpower and the Meteorological Department, once the immediate threat of flash floods and high winds has passed.
