Kuwait is cutting the paperwork — and the waiting. The Interior Ministry has launched new electronic services that make visa issuance and residency transfers faster and easier for expatriates working in the civil sector.

If you’re on Article 18, this update is for you.

What’s New for Expats

The new services allow users to issue, renew, and transfer Article 18 residency permits online, without the usual back-and-forth at government offices.

Everything is now available through the Interior Ministry’s official website, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Easier Residency Transfers

One of the biggest upgrades: employees can now transfer their residency from worker status to temporary residency under Article 14 digitally.

That means fewer in-person visits, less paperwork, and quicker approvals — a major win for busy professionals.

Part of Kuwait’s Digital Push

The Interior Ministry says the move is part of its wider goal to reduce admin hassle, save time, and speed up services as Kuwait moves toward a more integrated e-government system.

Simply put: faster processing, smoother experience, and less time spent waiting in lines.
