Jazeera Airways to Resume Flights to 9 Destinations on This Date
Carrier returns to Kuwait Terminal 5 with services to Amman, Beirut, Cairo, and others following airspace reopening after months of suspension.
Jazeera Airways has announced the resumption of flights to nine key destinations starting this Sunday, marking a significant milestone in the recovery of Kuwait's aviation sector. The airline will begin operations from Terminal 5 at Kuwait International Airport, following the official reopening of the country's airspace by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
Chief Executive Officer Barathan Pasupathi confirmed to KUNA that the initial flight schedule includes services to Amman, Beirut, Cairo, Damascus, Dubai, Istanbul, Mumbai, Kochi, and New Delhi. He noted that while operations are restarting immediately, the airline plans to gradually scale up to full capacity in the coming weeks.
The resumption follows a temporary suspension of flight operations from Kuwait that began on February 28 due to regional developments. During this period, Jazeera Airways maintained vital connectivity for the nation by operating flights from Al-Qaisumah and Dammam airports in Saudi Arabia. To facilitate this, the airline relocated more than 500 employees and 14 of its 23 aircraft to Saudi soil, ensuring that passengers could continue to travel despite the closure of Kuwaiti airspace.
Pasupathi expressed deep gratitude to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation for its cooperation and support throughout the suspension period. He also thanked Kuwait's General Directorate of Civil Aviation for their trust, emphasizing that the joint efforts of both nations enabled the airline to continue serving the community.
The decision to reopen the airspace was announced earlier Thursday by Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Sabah, Director General of the Public Authority of Civil Aviation. He stated that the suspension was a precautionary measure and that the airspace is now safe for commercial operations to resume.
Jazeera Airways reaffirmed its commitment to delivering value and reliability, aiming to enhance air connectivity that supports Kuwait's aviation sector and strengthens links between communities regionally and globally. The return to Terminal 5 signifies a normalisation of operations for the low-cost carrier and a boost for travelers relying on Kuwait as a regional hub.
