Jazeera Airways Launches Five New India Routes via Dammam
Kuwait Carrier Adds Calicut, Tiruchirappalli, Mangalore, Kannur, Vijayawada, and Lucknow to Connect Southern India and Beyond
Jazeera Airways has announced a significant expansion of its network in India, unveiling five new destinations accessible via Dammam Airport in Saudi Arabia. The Kuwait-based carrier confirmed that services to Calicut, Tiruchirappalli, Mangalore, and Kannur will commence on April 8, with an additional two routes to Vijayawada and Lucknow launching later in the month.
Barathan Pasupathi, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, spoke to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) detailing the schedule for the new connections. Flights to Calicut are set to operate twice weekly on Sundays and Wednesdays starting April 8. Services to Tiruchirappalli will begin slightly earlier on April 7, running on Sundays and Tuesdays. The Mangalore route will launch on April 9 with flights on Mondays and Thursdays, while Kannur services will start on April 14, operating on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The airline also revealed plans to introduce two additional services to Vijayawada and Lucknow via Dammam, scheduled to begin on April 13. These new routes are designed to complement Jazeera's existing robust network in India, which already serves eight major cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Pasupathi highlighted the airline's rapid recovery and growth since resuming operations to India on March 20, noting that more than 11,000 Indian passengers have already been transported. "This expansion enables us to directly connect a larger segment of travelers to their hometowns, particularly in southern India," he said.
Beyond leisure travel, the CEO emphasized the strategic importance of these routes for the essential workforce. The new connectivity aims to facilitate the return of professionals to their jobs, thereby sustaining key economic sectors, while simultaneously ensuring the continued flow of cargo and supply chains between India and Kuwait.
