India Announces Re-Examination Date for NEET 2026
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination will now be held on June 21, 2026, following the cancellation of the original exam on May 3 due to integrity concerns.
In a statement, the NTA acknowledged the inconvenience caused to students and families but emphasized that allowing the results to stand would harm public trust. The agency clarified that no re-registration or additional fees will be required, as existing details will be carried forward.
The decision comes after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation into exam irregularities. So far, seven individuals have been arrested, including candidates and middlemen from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Haryana. The case was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
The NTA urged students and parents to rely only on official channels for updates. The Department of Higher Education had previously filed a case regarding alleged irregularities and a possible paper leak, further complicating the exam’s credibility.
The re-examination aims to ensure fairness and restore confidence in India’s premier medical entrance test.
